GREAT TASTE 2025

2-star award

“A great drink with food, we feel, halfway between a hoppy beer and gentle off-dry wine. We found it delightful.”
“The palate is refreshing with its light spritz, well-managed sweetness. A slight touch of bitterness on the finish again helps balance and prevent any blowsiness.”
“With a yeasty, floral nose, this has subtle flavours which all come together - impressive for a mead.”
“It is smooth with a back-note of yeastiness. Different, interesting and, as far as we can tell, authentic. A commendable product.”
“We were taken aback by this mead which packs a very complex aroma profile with a creamy nutty tingle. On the palate this is a very light mead with a bold accent of the honey with a very well-balanced spice ratio.”
“This is easy drinking and surprisingly complex for such a low ABV.”
“It is delicious and a true testament to the quality of the honey.”

THE CRAFT

Floral aromas and mellow honey notes.

  • Gesho

The botanical at the heart of T’ej.

  • Slowly fermented

Fermented for over 60 days before being bottled by hand.

What is T’ej / Mes?

T’ej is Ethiopian honey wine, part of a wider tradition also enjoyed in Eritrea, where it is known as Mes. Honey is fermented with water, while gesho brings its distinctive botanical character. TANA is our expression of that tradition.

How should I enjoy it?

Serve chilled in a wine glass. Try it alongside your favourite Ethiopian or Eritrean dishes, or let the wine introduce a new flavour to your table.
